IT's Hidden Footprint

IT's Hidden Footprint

How do you reach IT professionals who avoid recruitment campaigns and rarely consider a bank as an employer? With a documentary that engages them on their professional field and societal impact.

With the documentary 'IT's Hidden Footprint', we bring to light a hidden problem: the carbon footprint of IT systems. To make the magnitude of this problem tangible, we created an interactive installation of washing machines, microwaves, and other household appliances. It illustrates the CO2 emissions of everyday IT activities. By demonstrating how many appliances can run on the same energy needed to stream a video or binge-watch a series, the invisible climate impact of IT is literally stacked up for viewers.

We follow IT professionals within Rabobank's Wavemakers team and how they develop concrete solutions to reduce this digital footprint. From energy-efficient code to smarter data storage – at Rabobank, IT professionals can use their technical expertise to help solve the problem they've helped create.

This documentary shows that the bank is a place where technical experts not only develop innovative systems but can also make a meaningful contribution to sustainability challenges.
